All change at Kingham station

Cotswold Line passengers heading to Oxford and London can now use the new waiting room on platform 2 at Kingham station.

The glass-walled structure, with seats for 20 passengers, has replaced a smaller shelter provided in the 1970s when British Rail demolished redundant Victorian buidlings dating from the station's heyday as a junction for lines east to Chipping Norton and Banbury and west to Bourton-on-the-Water and Cheltenham.

The base of the previous waiting room has been turned into another flowerbed, next to a pair created using the footings of the station's old footbridge, which was replaced in 2015.

The next Cotswold Line station to see an improvement in facilities for passengers will be Hanborough, where a new buidling, with ticket machines, a waiting area and a toilet, is expected to be open by the end of May.

A GWR staff member will in future be on duty at the station during the morning peak periods to sell tickets and assist passengers.

GWR is currently recruiting a new booking office clerk at Moreton-in-Marsh station, to replace the late Archie Dryburgh, who sadly died at the end of last year, and an extra relief clerk to provide cover at the booking offices at Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh and Evesham when staff are on holiday.
